Wholesome Fiction and Games

April Wenzel is an author and a tabletop game designer. She is a multi-story FaithWriters Challenge winner. Her readers often describe her work as sweet, intriguing, funny, and surprising. Her game players say they enjoy the interaction and fun of borrowing and retrieving books in her book-themed card game, Once Upon a Bookcase. April firmly believes that her most valuable and joy-filled roles are wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

Physical Birth

April was born at an American Army base in Munich, Germany, while her father was spying on the enemy in late December of — actually, never mind the date. It’s not polite to ask a lady her age. Germany, spying on the enemy? Now you’re thinking about WWII. Nope, much later than that. Okay, no more hints. Moving on.

Spiritual Birth

April always wears a diamond tiara. It’s a perfect complement to a flowing floral skirt or cozy pajamas. It’s invisible, of course, but it’s there. That’s because April is a daughter of the King. Not just any king, mind you, but the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the Great I am, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. The moment April believed in Jesus for eternal life, her crown appeared. She’s never been more grateful for anything else. He’s the joy of her life. (Wondering how to become a son or daughter of the King? Click to learn in 8 minutes.)

Education and Life Experience

April earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at SUNY Brockport. She has worked in a wide range of positions including but not limited to: Order Engineer, CAD Technician, Paralegal, Self-Storage Business Owner/Manager, Rental Property Owner/Manager, Homeschool Educator, and Executive Administrator.

Family Life

April is happily married to her best friend and has children she adores. She lives on the outskirts of Holley, New York, a tiny town known for its somewhat tall, picturesque waterfall. Ask any local and they’ll likely show you baby photos, senior pics or wedding photos taken at Holley Falls, April’s daughter included.

April enjoys spending time outdoors. Her favorite local spot is her own camp-like backyard. Spring, summer and early autumn in rural Western New York bring with them sunny days, views of the woods, bird songs and an occasional leaping rabbit or deer. Evenings are spent with friends and family around a glowing campfire surrounded by the sound of the humming serenades of tree frogs, crickets and cicadas.

Perhaps what April appreciates the most is the glow of embers, fireflies, moonlight and stars, which all point to the glory and majesty of our Creator and God. And, as if wanting to add a bit of flare, shooting stars and the Aurora Borealis have been known to occasionally show up and show off.
